Antony Kildare Chair of Trustees Expand Antony Kildare is a highly experienced and accomplished Chief Executive and senior business leader. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of IAM RoadSmart, the UK’s leading road safety charity. He has worked extensively in economic development, business investment, enterprise innovation, complex infrastructure and regeneration programmes, in health, education, children’s services and community and neighbourhood development projects across the UK and Europe. He has a strong commercial background and over twenty-five years’ experience in building collaborative relationships, partnerships, joint ventures and special purpose companies with public, private and not for profit clients and stakeholders to deliver performance improvement, organisational change, restructuring and business transformation. He has also held a number of non-executive, trustee and chair roles during his career. Antony was Independent Chair of Medway Community Healthcare (MCH) until August 2021. He was a Board Director of the International Health Alliance, a Non-executive Director (NED) and Chair of The Health and Europe Centre until June 2022. He is a former NED and Independent Chair of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. Until 2020, he was a Board Advisor and inaugural CEO of a children’s services company. Antony’s previous appointments include CEO, board and senior executive roles in regional development, healthcare, leisure, professional services, education, not for profit/charity and a period at the Department of Trade and Industry.
Mitch Miller Trustee Expand Mitch has considerable business experience in the retail and social care sector. Over the past four years, Mitch has been the managing director of two care providers, most recently in Buckinghamshire, delivering care to the elderly and adults living with a wide array of disabilities. With this diverse experience, Mitch is passionate about ensuring that individuals have the right to exercise choice and independence in all aspects their lives. Mitch joined POhWER as a board trustee with the desire to be able to use his experience to add value to the charity and be able to give something back to the people the charity serves. Focused on expanding his knowledge and education, Mitch holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Alliance Manchester Business School. An avid runner, Mitch often trains multiple times weekly at his running club and often participates in competitive running events.
Jackie Kinsey Trustee Expand Jackie Kinsey has had over 30 years’ experience in Human Resources across a number of different organisations, industries and countries. A recent organisation’s mission was to ‘advocate passionately for social and economic justice ‘. This was key to her motivation to work there and Jackie feels POhWER’s aims align well to her personal values. She has formed her own business focusing on strategic HR consultancy, leadership development and coaching. Jackie is also co-Chair of a local Secondary School Parent Teachers Association and is currently Chief People Officer for an organisation whose mission is to transform healthcare through science. Jackie is passionate about all aspects of diversity and inclusivity and hopes to be able to continue to share these and other commercial experiences to enable POhWER to grow, prosper, and reach and support more beneficiaries.
Sandra Harding Trustee Expand Sandra is a chartered and HCPC registered physiotherapist with more than thirty-five years’ experience in the public and private healthcare sector. Her experience of healthcare scenarios where an advocate could have had so much impact led her to apply to become a trustee. She has managed several clinical services, an independent hospital, and the national physiotherapy service for BMI Healthcare, leading more than 750 staff. In this role she was seen by board members, colleagues, and peers as an “inspiring individual who is emotionally intelligent, listens and is able to relate to all.” In 2017 she resigned to create a start-up business initially advising and supporting physiotherapists to evidence compliance with their regulations and standards. Together with her business partner they are on a mission to enable these services to illustrate robust governance - keeping clients, staff, and business owners safe. This can then assist them, if challenged, by the relevant regulators including the Health and Care Professions Council and the Care Quality Commission (CQC). In 2021 the business rebranded and taking her lived experience and learnings she now supports many High Street clinics and hospitals and supports more clinical professions including osteopaths and chiropractors. In January 2022 Sandra joined the board of a Large NHS Hospital Trust as an associate non-executive director. She is also a long serving primary school vice chair of governors, a Winston Churchill Fellow, and a parish councillor. She has a love of family, exercise, and food. Alongside her career, she is busy at home with menagerie thanks to her daughters!
Ian Holland Trustee Expand Ian has over 13 years’ experience within the utilities sector and having undertaken a number of senior leadership positions. A member of the Chartered Institute of Management accountants, he has spent the past four years building customer propositions within the residential supply market, developing a real passion for all things customer and user-experience focused. A strong advocate for diversity and inclusion within his own organisation, Ian is delighted to have the opportunity to use his skills and experience to help POhWER on its critical mission to empower people to have a voice and make a real difference to their lives.
Andrew McGrath Trustee Expand Andrew McGrath is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales and has held a number of senior positions in finance, risk and assurance, commissioning and transformation. He has a strong commercial background with over 20 years’ experience in driving organisational change, business performance improvement and customer satisfaction through collegiate partnerships and leadership. He has significant experience in Health Insurance, Aged Care Provision, Property Development and Sales, and Public Sector Commissioning. He has held a number of Board level roles during his career. Andrew is currently the Finance Director for Richmond Villages, a Bupa Aged Care subsidiary, alongside his role as Director of Commissioning for Bupa Care Services. He was previously the Financial Controller for Bupa UK having qualified at PwC. Andrew has worked overseas in Finance and Change roles for both Procter & Gamble and Michelin. Andrew is passionate about equality and ensuring opportunities are available to all. He is also committed to driving positive change for those most in need.
Gemma Hope Trustee Expand Gemma is the Director of Policy at Leonard Cheshire, a national charity which supports disabled people to live, learn and earn as independently as they choose. Gemma is responsible for the charity’s policy, public affairs and campaigns functions. Gemma has a thirteen year track record working in charities which tackle the social exclusion experienced by many groups in society. As a part time carer to her disabled father, Gemma is a passionate advocate of disability rights and ensuring that people's lived experiences are at the heart of her work to influence local and national governments.
Paul Robinson Trustee Expand Paul is a Chartered Accountant and began his career in a number of senior financial roles in large multinationals, mainly in the technology sector. More recently he has specialised in healthcare having been Finance Director of an NHS Trust and also of a privately owned provider of mobility aids and services. He is currently an independent consultant providing interim financial leadership and consultancy to a range of clients. Paul has a strong ethos towards patient care and community and is keen to help guide POhWER and support our financial resources’ position to optimise the quality of delivery to our service users. Paul lives in Berkshire with his wife and has three adult children.
Rachael Gilthorpe Trustee Expand Rachael is Digital Services Lead at Action for Children and has a Sociology degree from the University of Essex. She has worked in the charity sector for nine years in the field of user-led design and co-production. She has developed My Stroke Guide (online support service for stroke survivors and carers) and Parent Talk (digital parenting support service, which has supported over 1 million parents and carers). She is passionate about using data and insight to develop user-centered digital services that positively impact the lives of the user and their families. Rachael is committed to empowering people, helping to raise their voice and campaigning for better services and support, and to combat social injustice. Rachael also volunteers for a number of charities and is a mother of two.
Corinne Mills Trustee Expand Corinne has extensive experience in Human Resources and is currently the People Director at the charity Alzheimer’s Society. She has senior HR leadership experience in all sectors including roles at Marks and Spencer, Ofsted, The London Borough of Brent, The Learning Trust and RNIB. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) and has been a lay member of the Employment Tribunal Service for the Ministry of Justice. Corinne’s experience includes helping achieve lasting change in organisational development, employee relations, employee engagement and organisational transformation, including mergers, launching new operating models, cultural change and HR systems. She lives with her three children - and huge dog in Hertfordshire. She is a very keen rugby supporter, active volunteer and fundraiser and all-round sports fan.
Alex Cisneros Trustee Expand Alex is a specialist mental capacity and mental health barrister. He acts in complex cases involving exceptionally vulnerable clients and has been recognised as 'one to watch’ in various industry awards and directories.Alex has advised several government departments and overseas territories about mental health and mental capacity law. He also contributes to national and international discussions about developments in this area as an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society. Alex is currently pursuing a part-time PhD exploring changes to the deprivation of liberty safeguards in England and Wales.
Abdi Mohamed Trustee Expand Abdi has a background in politics at a local, regional and national level, and brings a wealth of experience in campaigning for people’s rights with a special focus on people with disabilities. His work with Action for Children and NUS has given him a good grounding in working with campaigning and communication projects across the UK in developing, delivering and evaluating public facing policy change campaigns. Abdi currently works for a large charity, having previously been Policy Advisor to the Shadow Minister for Disabled People. He has first-hand knowledge of engaging in the legislative process in Parliament and Whitehall around disability. Abdi has a NED role at a London Community Trust and is a school governor in Tower Hamlets. Abdi will bring his expertise to support POhWER to enhance its campaigning and policy shaping activities, bringing positive change to society by empowering marginalised, vulnerable and socially excluded people.
