This may be when the person needs to make important decisions about their life, care, or treatment and needs support to engage effectively with what can be a very complex process or procedure. Find out more Community Champion An opportunity to raise awareness of POhWER and to help the local community understand who we are, what our services do, how to get in contact with us, and how to get involved locally. Community Champions’ support our paid advocates to help people who find it difficult to find and understand information, speak up and get their voice heard when important decisions are being made about their future. Find out more Fundraising & Engagement Champion An opportunity to work creatively with the local Community Manager to help develop local posters, leaflets and adverts. Support the local team to help the community understand who we are, what our services do and to ensure they know how to get in contact with us and get involved. This may also include supporting fundraising activities throughout the organisation. Find out more Apply to volunteer FAQ’s How to apply If you would like to apply to volunteer with POhWER you can fill in the online expression of interest form and we will contact you to talk to you in more detail about volunteer opportunities in your area. We are currently in the process of implementing a new volunteer recruitment and management system and this will go-live in early 2025. Once this is set-up you will be able to create an account and follow your volunteering journey on the system. How will I be supported? You will be supported on a local level by a “Volunteer Manager” (this could be a Community Development Worker, Supervising Advocate or a paid colleague of a similar role). They will provide you with on-going supervision, training and support as well as task you with suitable and meaningful activities. Areas where volunteering roles may become available Volunteering roles may be available in: South West and Wales South East and London Central, North East and Scotland North West What expenses will I be eligible for? Volunteers are eligible to claim reasonable expenses, which are incurred in the course of their volunteering activities. This may include the cost of travel and is subject to our expenses policy.
