About us Our Gender Pay Gap POhWER Gender Pay Gap Report April 2023 POhWER is a charity which helps people who, because of disability, illness, social exclusion and other challenges, find it difficult to express their views or get the support they need. Our report for 5 April 2023 shows the following: Our gender split is 79% (312) female colleagues and 21% (83) male colleagues. The mean (average) gender pay gap in hourly pay as a percentage of men’s pay is -5.94% with female colleagues earning £14.30 and male colleagues earning £13.50 The median gender pay gap in hourly pay as a percentage of men’s pay is -2.36% with female colleagues earning £13.32 and male colleagues earning £13.01 per hour. This compares to our results reported in 2022, with the mean pay gap moving from -3.3% to -5.94% and the median movement from -4.98% to -2.36%. Continuing improvement POhWER remains committed to keeping the gender pay gap equal in line with our values and beliefs that everyone who works for POhWER should be treated fairly and equitably. This year, we have seen a higher shift for our female colleagues, with females earning a mean average of 80p more per hour than our male colleagues. This is due to the significantly higher number of female colleagues than male colleagues we employ at POhWER. In addition, in 2023/24 we report that 12 of the 14 leadership positions within POhWER were held by women. This leadership position has significantly changed since last year and will have skewed the pay gap further in favour of female staff. We have continued to make a number of policy changes, supported by our Board of Trustees, which promote equality for all colleagues, and we now offer additional paid time off for all colleagues with caring responsibilities over and above the requirements of legislation. Mean and median bonuses The organisation did not pay any bonus and therefore there is no data to report in relation to the following: Mean bonus pay gap; Median bonus pay gap; Proportion of males receiving a bonus payment; Proportion of females receiving a bonus payment. Quartile pay bands The following information shows the four quartile pay bands and the proportion of male and female staff within each section: Lower quartile – 73 female staff (73.7%) – 25 male staff (26.3%) Lower middle – 79 female staff (79.8%) – 20 male staff (20.2%) Upper middle – 81 female staff (81.8%) – 18 male staff (18.2%) Upper quartile – 79 female staff (80.6 %) – 19 male staff (19.4%) Total number of employees is 395 with 312 (79%) female and 83 (21%) male.
