She called POhWER to support her in making a complaint. Read Michelle's Story here Margaret's Story When Margaret needed some support in getting her voice heard by the practice manager the GP surgery she turned to POhWER to support her. Read Margaret's story here Jain's Story Jain received advocacy support following DoLS while living in care home Read Jain's Story here Margaret's Story Margaret has experience severe mental health issue as well as agoraphobia – she also has trust issues concerning professionals and a fear of social services. Margaret felt that she had been let down by the doctors and practice staff and had not been listened to – she was not getting access to care and was in fear of not receiving the correct medication. The POhWER advocate established what the type of support Margaret needed. The advocate gained insight into how the Margaret’s health issues and agoraphobia affects her ability to get access to support, by contacting Margaret and gaving support at a time and place that suited Margaret’s needs – this meant that she was able to get her voice heard and complained to the GP/ Practice Manger. Margaret said: ‘It is only due to the advocacy support that the surgery listen and have out the care in place.’ Margaret is not pleased with the surgery.
