Hybrid working: with regular travel across Brighton and surrounding areas.

Job reference: 179

Contract type: Bank worker

Working hours: Working a range of shifts to be agreed between the hours of 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday

Salary: £11.20 - £12.10 per hour

We have an exciting opportunity for an Independent Advocate bank worker to join our South Coast team working on our Advocacy contracts.

If you have ever supported a family member or friend at a difficult meeting – if you have supported them to be listened to or have their voice heard - if you have ever challenged decisions made about them you have been an advocate!

It would be great if you have worked in advocacy, information and advice or similar role before, in a health, social care or voluntary setting but not essential. We need people who are first and foremost good communicators with a passion for supporting vulnerable people to have a voice.

In this role you will be supporting a wide range of vulnerable adults often with profound and multiple needs. You will need to have a flexible attitude and must be comfortable handling highly sensitive information whilst able to work well independently and confidently on behalf of others. Time management skills will be required and you will need to be computer literate. A full induction and training will be provided as well as ongoing peer mentoring and support.

You will be visiting people in care homes and hospitals across the Brighton and Hove area and then preparing and submitting reports to the local authority.  Because of the nature and location of the role, applicants must live within a commutable distance of the Brighton area; have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport. Travel expenses will be paid within the Sussex area border.
