We have a dedicated team of volunteers in Nottingham, striving to provide support for those people who may not meet the criteria for the statutory advocacy services.

Group support:

We offer monthly community groups meeting at Clifton Rivergreen Methodist Hub, St Peter’s Church in the city centre, Nottingham Women’s Centre, and Mansfield 4 Seasons Community Space. Please email [email protected] or call 0300 020 0093 for more information, including upcoming dates and times of each group. You can also check our Nottingham Facebook page where we post regular updates about our groups.

The groups are free, confidential and open to anyone feeling isolated, or experiencing mental health difficulties. Our volunteers can help you find information, advice and support. You can learn about advocacy and how to speak up for yourself, or you can come along simply to meet others and have a friendly chat over tea and biscuits.

Through our groups, volunteers may be able to provide peer support or volunteer advocacy support.

Peer support:

Support from volunteers with lived experience of mental health or of using health and social care services. We will try and match you with someone who has similar experiences to you. They will support you to develop new skills and gain confidence. Our peer support volunteers can share their experience and provide practical support and encouragement.

Volunteer citizen advocacy:

We will try and match you with a trained volunteer who can provide one-to-one support to help you tackle a particular issue. Volunteer advocates may provide support in person, by telephone or by email. They can help you to access information, speak up and get your voice heard.
