Volunteering for POhWER is an opportunity to support people who, due to disability or being disadvantaged, find it difficult to get information, speak up and get their voice heard. Advocates help to empower people so that they have a say and are involved in shaping their own lives.
When volunteering for POhWER we aim to make the best use of your current skills and abilities whilst helping you develop in other areas so call us to chat through your skills or have a look at some ways you can become involved:
Citizen Advocacy Volunteers may have lived experience of using advocacy services and offer support to clients on a wide range of non-complex issues.
Peer Advocacy Volunteers have lived experience of health and social care and support clients on a wide range of non-complex issues that can be easily and quickly resolved.
Self Advocacy Volunteers would support the development of self advocacy groups and support people to develop their own self advocacy skills.
Volunteer Office Administrator is an opportunity for people to support our local offices and our front line staff.
Community Engagement Volunteers support the local team to help the community understand who we are, what our services do and to ensure they know how to get in contact with us and get involved.
The Fundraising Volunteer is an opportunity to support fundraising activities throughout the organisation which may include investigating and applying for local grants and funding opportunities and attending events.
We value the work of the volunteers we have and could not carry out much of the important work we do without them, take a look at our volunteers stories.Read more
