The annual Big Do took place on 26th October and was attended by service users who access learning disability services in the Hackney area. This years theme was Hate Crime and Mate Crime and talked about keeping people safe. After registering and welcoming attendees with tea and coffee, everyone had the chance to take part in workshops, which looked at online safety as well as hoarding and personal hygiene.

The POhWER self advocates acted out different scenarios to demonstrate how to keep safe in different circumstances and following a delightful  lunch, attendees took part in a rousing Joy of Sound workshop, followed by a restful yoga class.

Throughout the day, attendees also took up the opportunity to have a hand massage and were able to visit the information stalls which were set up in the main hall. Organisations present included Coppafeel, Us In A Bus, the Metropolitan Police and HealthWatch. The day was great fun as well as informative for all those who came along. We hope to see everyone again next year.
