Pohwer Advocacy is delighted to facilitate this group in partnership with Summercare - members of the Group attend Summerdays Day Centre this is for people with learning disabilities. The self advocacy group aims to support members to get their voices heard and secure the services that they are entitled to. Members help each other by sharing information and promoting shared decision making – no decision about us, without us. The group supports members to become more confident by developing their daily living, communication and self advocacy skills. Chair of the group Robert Norton warmly welcomed the Mayor. Members enjoyed a lively question and answer session with the Mayor and learned more about local government in Southend-on-Sea. This was followed by refreshments and informal discussion.
