The support of volunteers is vital to our work. We are always interested in meeting new people who want to help and get involved with the work that we do.

Volunteer Advocate (self, citizen, peer)

The Volunteer Advocate role is an opportunity for people to volunteer and support our qualified and trained advocates to help people who find it difficult to find and understand information, speak up and get their voice heard when important decisions are being made about their future. Advocates help to empower people so that they have a say and role in shaping their own lives. Our paid advocates support clients on a wide range of complex issues and our volunteer advocates add real life experience and skills to our service and support our advocates to help clients with non complex issues.

The Volunteer Advocate role is to support to the paid advocates to provide advocacy services offered by POhWER.

Customer Service Volunteer

The Customer Service Volunteer role is new an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of volunteers. Gathering service user and professional feedback is used as part of our quality assurance process to gather feedback on the services we offer. We want to know what our service users’ experience is when they contact POhWER for information, advice, signposting or advocacy support. We will use this information and share it with our staff when things are going well, but also use it to improve the service we offer when things could be done better. Feedback will be used to help train and develop our staff and volunteers and make improvements to our services.

The Customer Service volunteer role is to support the local Community Manager and Head of Community Development to plan, arrange and carry our customer service surveys, gathering feedback that the Community Manager and Head of Community Development will use to compile appropriate reports.

Office Administrator Volunteer

Office Administrator Volunteer is an opportunity for people to volunteer to support our back office function to enable our front line staff, advocates, to support people with disabilities or who are disadvantaged to speak up and have a voice that is hear by professionals. This may be when the person needs to make important decisions about their life, care or treatment and need support to engage effectively with what can be a very complex process or procedure.

The Volunteer Office Administrator's role is to offer back office, administrative support to enable front line staff to deliver high quality information, advice and advocacy services to what are most often, the most vulnerable people in our local community.

Fundraising Volunteer

The Fundraising Volunteer role is new and exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team. We are looking for a creative, motivated and enthusiastic person to become part of a small local team to help us to think creatively about local fundraising activity which may include investigating and applying for local grants and funding opportunities.

To provide support to the local Community Manager and Head of Community Development at POhWER to investigate and develop local fundraising events and activity, including promoting out Just Giving web page, our text giving service, engaging with local Community Matters schemes and developing local corporate support or sponsorship. This may also include working with the local Community Manager to ensure we are aware of all local grant opportunities that are appropriate for us to apply for and submit applications.

Mystery Shopping Volunteer

The Mystery Shopping Volunteer role is new an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of volunteers. Mystery shopping is used as part of our quality assurance process to gather feedback on the services we offer. The mystery shopping volunteer will work with the local Community Manager and Head of Community Development at POhWER to identify POhWER services to mystery shop, plan local mystery shopping of our services, carry out mystery shopping of our local services, complete a report with the local Community Manager detailing the outcome of the mystery shopping of our local services.

Direct Payment Volunteer Advisor

The Direct Payment Volunteer Advisor role is new an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of volunteers and paid staff. Supporting service users to understand Direct Payments, their options and choices in how to use and manage their Direct Payment.
