Restriction by National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) on access to osteoporosis drugs for women under 65.

22 September 2004

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) has restricted access to osteoporosis drugs for women under 65 despite protests from campaigners. Only those who have the condition and "one or more risks" such as family history or untreated premature menopause, will be prescribed bisphosphonates. Others with osteoporosis will not, even if they have broken a bone.
