How we can help you:

POhWER’s trained advocates provide specialist and secure advocacy services across the country in medium secure units, low secure units, step down and community units. Our advocates can:

  • Visit you at the unit
  • Spend time with you to find out about the issues which you would like support with and how you would like to be supported
  • Use specialist skills to communicate with you. We have advocates trained in British Sign Language, Makaton and using picture, symbol and sensory boards and Easy Read resources
  • Support you to speak up at meetings with unit staff and to understand the information given by staff
  • Support you to be involved in other opportunities to speak up such as group advocacy sessions and patient forums.
