IPA’s are independent. This means that they are only working for the person with learning disabilities.

An Example of IPA work:

A client did not want to go to a day centre.Picture - what to do today?

The IPA went to see them at the day centre and at some other places. Two people talking

This helped the IPA to see where the client liked to be and what they wanted to do.Picture - what to do today?

The IPA talked to the staff and told them what they thought.
